The 2007 JISC online conference, Innovating e-Learning 2007, starts on 11 June and runs until 14 June. The focus of this year’s conference is on two themes: Institutional transformation and Supporting lifelong learning.

Registration will be closing shortly on Sunday 10 June.

What the conference offers

Introducing the programme will be Alun Hughes, chair of the JISC Learning and Teaching Committee. Keynote presenters for the two themes will be Professor Terry Mayes, Glasgow Caledonian University, Dr John Guy, Principal, and Dr Mike Docker, Farnborough Sixth Form College, and Professor Robin Mason, The Open University. Professor Oleg Liber, CETIS, will offer the closing keynote.

The programme ranges widely across transformational and lifelong learning topics and includes ten main sessions across the two themes.

Session topics include:

  • Understanding the prospects for transformation
  • Design for learning – an online workshop
  • Lost in transformation? Caught in the web of change
  • Developing an e-portfolio culture from the early years
  • Personal technologies and the future of learning
  • Blogging for beginners
  • Support of work-based learning and employer engagement

Just some of the extras this year in the Showcase area include a discussion on barriers to mainstream adoption of Second Life for teaching and a demonstration of Mind Genius. And as this is an online conference, delegates meeting for a virtual chat in the social area could come from across the UK, or from around the world.

Who should attend

The programme is of interest to delegates in both further and higher education. The conference takes place in an asynchronous environment, making it possible to take part at any time.
