Last week JISC held an induction meeting for many of its new e-Learning Capital projects to tell them about how the e-Learning Programme works and to offer some advice on legal issues, evaluation, accessibility, the e-Framework, project management and dissemination.

It was an intensive day there are lots of things for new projects to take onboard. The programme summarises the topics covered. For those projects unable to attend all the presentations are available from the JISC web site. This information will also be of interest to people thinking of bidding into the next round of Capital programme funding (http://www.jisc.ac.uk/circular0107).

Wilbert Kraan gave a particularly clear explanation of standards and web services, which is well worth a look.

Briefly, the day covered the following areas:

  • e-Learning Programme structure
  • Reporting Requirements
  • Project Support
  • Legal Requirements for projects
  • Accessibility
  • Evaluation
  • Technical Approaches and Communities of Practice
  • Project Management
  • Interoperability, Standards, soa and e-Framework
  • Communications and Dissemination
  • Open Source, what it means to develop open source software

The presentations are available on the JISC web site at:
