Competition Launch for Innovative Practice with e-Learning

Judged by John Traxler of Wolverhampton University, the competition’s first prize - an Acer® PDA with Pocket PC and complete navigation system - was awarded to David Sugden of Village e-Learning. David, formerly e-Learning Manager at Dewsbury College of Further and Higher Education, described the use of videos captured on mobile phones and beamed to a tablet PC for projection on to a screen for whole-class discussion as part of an NVQ Level 2 class. The second prize of a USB drive with voice recording capability went to the Stockton Riverside College project team who pioneered the use of PDAs in the support of dyslexic learners.

The ‘Innovative Practice with e-Learning’ CD-Rom, which includes a video and written case study on the use of PDAs in mobile learning and teaching at Dewsbury College, Thomas Danby College and Bishop Burton College, can now be found online at www.elearning.ac.uk/innoprac.
