Overview of the e-Learning Programme

19 Sep, 2007
The JISC e-Learning programme (October 2003 to March 2009) aims to identify how e-learning can benefit learners, practitioners and educational institutions, and advise on its implementation.

It aims to achieve an improved quality of learning through:

  • Practitioners developing the confidence and skills to manage and facilitate e-learning in different contexts and with different pedagogical approaches
  • A technical infrastructure that supports flexibility, diversity and extendibility
  • Easy access to high quality, flexible learning materials
  • Effective and responsive e-learning policies, systems and structures in place at local, regional and national level

JISC is working in partnership with Becta and the Higher Education Academy to realise the DfES e-Strategy and the HEFCE e-Learning strategy

(text from the JISC site).

The e-Learning Focus site aims to report on programme developments and provide a route into the e-Learning Programme for the wider community. It reports on its results, and provides commentary, news and articles to support the work of the projects. Focus has a particular interest in the technical developments of the Programme and the development of service oriented approaches.

More information on the structure of the Programme and the types of projects it is funded can be found on the JISC web site at:
