Introduction
An initiative funded by the JISC Learning and Teaching
committee, the JISC
e-Learning Programme brings together a diverse range of communities: practitioners
in further and higher education and adult and community learning, software
and infrastructure developers and the research community. Its aim is to
widen understanding of effective approaches to e-learning and of the tools
and applications that support it.
The programme contains four strands:
- e-Learning and Pedagogy
- Technical Framework and Tools for e-Learning
- e-Learning and Innovation
- Distributed e-Learning

| The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC)
supports UK post-16 and higher education and research by providing
leadership in the use of Information and Communications Technology
in support of learning, teaching, research and administration. JISC
is funded by all the UK post-16 and higher education funding councils.
It is best known for providing the JANET network, a range of support,
content and advisory services, and a portfolio of high-quality resources.
