The JISC case study template has been designed to encourage the capture and recording of effective practice to provide practitioners in further and higher education and adult and community learning with evidence-based information about effective practice in the use of e-learning. The use of this template will provide insights into the challenges encountered in day-to-day practice, the ways that e-learning has been combined with established practice to bring about solutions, and the risks and benefits experienced. It has been designed for use by practitioners, to help them reflect on the design of learning activities and to provide a framework for analysing how and why a particular practice evolved. The evidence accumulated will also add to a wider understanding of how practitioners plan, design and deliver learning activities, by providing a database of advice and guidance for others. Through the use of a common template, these tried and tested examples can be shared with the wider community of researchers, software developers and practitioners through the e-Learning and Pedagogy strand of the JISC e-Learning Programme. Completed case studies can be sent by email to the e-Learning and Pedagogy Programme Manager, Sarah Knight, sarah.knight@bristol.ac.uk
